The maps below show a coal mining site before and after redevelopment.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The infographics depict how a mining coal site is transformed after some facilities are removed and replaced with new constructions.

Overall, the entire area is turned into a visitor attraction. Apart from the parking lot, the site witnesses a number of significant improvements with the removal of some buildings and the waste pits which are then replaced with numerous recreational facilities, such as a museum, a café, a picnic area and a children playground.

To begin with, the office and the staff’s changing room located in the northwest of the mining site are demolished to give space for the erection of a museum. Additionally, although the northern entrance to the underground mine experiences no change, it is redesigned to allow tourists to enter the mine instead of workers as its initial purpose. In the centre of the site, a café with a foot path surrounding the area and extending to the east is built with an expense of the demolition of a medical room and a lorry park.

In the eastern area of the site, two waste pits are cleared to make way for a driving truck track which is situated to the north of a picnic area. To the south of this region, a children’s playground is also constructed. In addition to the abovementioned changes, the car park in the southwest of the site remains undeveloped.
